A unique and quite special location
Kaiuma Bay is located in the head of the Pelorus Sound in Marlborough, New Zealand. Only a short boat ride from Havelock, Kaiuma Bay can also be accessed by road. A new bridge over the nearby Pelorus River means the drive is only 20 minutes from the service town and port of Havelock, 55 minutes from Blenheim or 1 hour 10 minutes to Nelson.
The nearest major centres are Nelson and Blenheim, both serviced by major airlines. The Marlborough Sounds can be accessed from Wellington, New Zealand’s capital city by The Interislander ferry to Picton.
It is amazing the beautiful places and activites that are within a short drive/boat trip from the Kaiuma Bay area, from alpine ski fields, to whale watching in the Pacific Ocean, wineries, lodges and high country stations, for the adventurous outdoors lover, Kaiuma Bay is the place to live.

Weather in the Marlborough Sounds:
Because much of the Marlborough region is sheltered by high country to the west, south and in some areas to the east, it is one of New Zealand’s sunniest regions.
Warm, dry and settled weather predominates during summer. Winter days often start with a frost, but are usually mild overall. Typical summer daytime maximum air temperatures range from 20°C to 26°C, but occasionally rise above 30°C. Late winter and early spring is normally the most unsettled time of the year. Typical winter daytime maximum air temperatures range from 10°C to 15°C. Annual hours of sunshine average at least 2,400 hours. High temperatures are frequent in Blenheim and may be accompanied by föhn winds from the northwest, characterised by the distinctive “wave” cloud formations.
